Warning Signs
The following signs may mean someone is at risk for suicide- pay attention to new or increased behaviors and if it seems related to a painful event, loss or change. 
  1. Talking about wanting to die or kill themselves.
  2. Looking for a way to kill themselves.
  3. Talking about feeling hopeless or having no reason to live.
  4. Talking about being a burden to others.
  5. Acting anxious or agitated, behaving recklessly. 
  6. Sleeping too littler or too much.
  7. Withdrawing or isolating themselves.
  8. Showing rage or talking about seeking revenge.
  9. Displaying extreme mood swings.
  10. Increased use of alcohol or drugs.
How to Respond
The first thing to remember is that you are not responsible for others' choices, you are simply an avenue for help. 
  1. Keep calm.
  2. Don't leave the person of concern alone. 
  3. Show your care and concern.
  4. Ask if they have the means to commit suicide or have thought of how to do it.
  5. Listen.
  6. Seek professional help!

Accept yourself, you don't have to be like everybody else. Life gets easier once you've learned some coping skills. Reach out to others- don't keep bad feelings to yourself. Look for positive ways to solve problems and learn what's causing them in the first place. Your school staff is here to help!
